On a lazy summer vacation morning, I was reading the papers when I noticed an ad in the Hindustan Times calling young teenagers to be on the Student Editorial Board of Hindustan Times.
Because writing is a passion, I gave it a try. I was asked to submit an article for the question, why I should be be considered on the HT Student Editorial Board.
I submitted the following article:

I submitted the following article:

"I approach life in such a way that I
cherish each and every moment of my life. Being brought up in an environment
where character building is given more predominance than material achievement,
I am having the freedom to explore my interests in literature and leadership
qualities, in addition to excelling in academics. I always keep myself abreast
of current affairs, developmental & social issues. I also maintain a blog
where I occasionally post my thoughts.
Academically, along with regular studies
– in which I always scored excellent marks, I appeared in various competitive
examinations and won awards. I also pursed an online course in Economics from
Oxford University. I also take regularly part in various literature meets, Elocution
events, science exhibitions, which enable me to enrich my talents and
abilities.
In addition to my academic achievements,
I take part in part in various activities at school, I also participate in
seminars and conferences at national & international level. I represented
my school in Harvard Model UN; workshop conducted by NASA; and went on an environmental
camp undertaken by TERI.
Perturbed by the ‘Delhi Rape Case’, I
took up this social issue seriously and organised silent protest marches at
school and local areas to create awareness and eradicate this social evil. I
have won appreciations from my School for my organizational capabilities. The Hindustan
Times also covered this event.
I can talk and write well. So that is
what I am looking for in a potential career option – harnessing the power of
the spoken / written word to enthrall and enrapture. Ambition is
important; but having means to pursue the ambition is essential. My ambition is
to become a responsible citizen who can contribute something to the society.
And, a position at HT’s Student editorial board could accord me a platform to
achieve my ambition."

I waited eagerly, and today, the10th May, I receive a mail from Hindustan Times office, confirming my selection to be a part of the Editorial Board.
Happy I am? naaah! Very Happy!!!!!
